Food will be cooked in Castello square by Marco Sacco, chef of the two Michelin stars “Piccolo Lago” Verbania restaurant. He will collect a ton of fresh food wastes and will transform them into a dish to be distributed among 5000 people. The event, organized in the name of food waste fight, will also be a moment of fun, music and party.
Feeding the 5000 is just the first of a series of concrete actions, banquets against food waste that will take place throughout Europe as part of the World Feeding day. The day before the Urban Food Policy Act will be signed in Milan, it’s an agreement promoted by Milan for future feeding actions after the Expo and it will involve 85 cities of the world that will fight food waste.
As Brigida Marovelli, Italian Feedback coordinator, the aim of the initiative, that has arrived in Milan after the first start in London in 2009 in Trafalgar Square, is to “create a synergy among different partners and non profit organizations to increase the awareness towards food waste in Italy connecting different realities who are already involved in this issue".
