Contemporaneamente alle europee si è votato per il sindaco di Londra. La rielezione di Livingstone non era scontata, non tanto per le proteste dei comercianti contro la tariffazione delle auto in centro,quanto per la sua decisione di rientrare nel partito laburista proprio nel momento peggiore della storia elettorale del partito. Infatti Livingstone ha vinto con un margine più limitato del previsto ( 6 o 7 punti sul conservatore ) e potrebbe avere un consiglio comunale difficile da governare.
